Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) continues to lead as the premier digital challenger bank in the Philippines, winning ‘Best Bank for Digital’ by Euromoney for the fifth year in a row. The bank also clinched the title ‘Best Bank for SMEs’.
RCBC was selected from hundreds of banks worldwide to receive this prestigious title from the respected global finance publication. The Best Bank for Digital category was particularly competitive this year, with a record number of submissions. This is due to merging Asiamoney’s Best Bank Awards with the Euromoney Awards for Excellence, creating one of the industry’s most renowned, credible, and competitive awards programs.
“Our customers are the reason behind the success of RCBC. We owe all these accolades to them. And so we will work doubly hard to serve their needs, balancing touch and tech to ensure we deliver best-in-class banking experience,” RCBC President and Chief Executive Officer Eugene Acevedo said.
By embedding and elevating its digital solutions with the element of empowerment and expanding the scope of services to a global audience, RCBC put forward its empowering digital solutions – RCBC Pulz, RCBC ATM Go, and RCBC DiskarTech, and each of its updated and enhanced features in its bid for the highly coveted award for the fifth consecutive year.
The bank highlighted the synergy of digital solutions in creating a global superhighway that connected rural and remote areas to OFWs and the global economy. RCBC Pulz became a privately-owned Philippine bank’s first digital banking solution to recognize international mobile numbers for bank onboarding. At the same time, RCBC DiskarTech expanded its remittance services, allowing underserved Filipinos to receive remittances directly on their smartphones. Meanwhile, RCBC ATM Go achieved 100% coverage of all provinces and cities in the Philippines and a record-breaking 731% expansion in deploying new terminals.
RCBC’s push towards digitalization is anchored upon its mission to financially include all Filipinos, even those outside the country. The bank embarked on its disruptive digital transformation journey as a response to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ challenge to include Filipinos financially and radically digitized retail payments. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the growth of RCBC’s products. Since then, RCBC has become a staunch advocate of digital and even created phygital or physical-digital blended banking experiences.
“Our five-year winning streak is a testament to the hard work that our people, partners, and valuable clients have put in to make RCBC the top bank for digital solutions. We thank everyone for investing their talents, skills, and dreams into making our digital ecosystem the best the Philippines can offer,” Lito Villanueva, RCBC executive vice president and chief innovations and inclusion officer said.
