RCBC marks 7th straight Euromoney digital banking win

ByThe Philippine Business and News

RCBC marks its seventh consecutive Euromoney digital banking recognition, reflecting the bank’s continued investment in digital financial services, financial inclusion, and customer-focused innovation across the Philippines.

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) has been named Best Bank for Digital by Euromoney for the seventh consecutive year, becoming the first bank in Asia to achieve the milestone and extending the longest winning streak in the category by any Philippine bank.

The recognition highlights a broader shift in digital banking, where success is increasingly measured not by the number of new features launched, but by how technology solves real-world problems and expands access to financial services.

According to Euromoney, digital leadership now goes beyond innovation for its own sake. Banks are being recognized for using technology to create measurable value for customers, strengthen financial inclusion, and improve everyday banking experiences.

For RCBC, that strategy has focused on building an integrated digital ecosystem that supports customers through different stages of their financial lives—from opening a first savings account and receiving government benefits to making digital payments, managing small businesses, earning income from overseas clients, and building long-term financial security.

“Technology should never become the destination. It is simply the bridge. The real measure of innovation is whether it helps people build better financial lives and achieve greater financial security,” said RCBC President and CEO Reggie Cariaso.

The bank’s digital ecosystem is anchored on three major platforms designed to address different customer needs.

RCBC ATM Go expands banking access by transforming neighborhood merchants into banking agents, allowing residents in underserved and geographically isolated communities to withdraw cash and perform basic banking transactions without traveling long distances. The service now operates across all 82 Philippine provinces while creating additional income opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

RCBC DiskarTech continues to advance financial inclusion through its partnership with the Social Security System (SSS). The MySSS Card powered by DiskarTech combines government identification, savings, digital payments, and banking services into a single platform, helping more Filipinos enter the formal financial system while making access to government benefits more convenient.

Meanwhile, RCBC Pulz targets the country’s growing population of freelancers, digital professionals, and globally mobile workers. Through the Philippines’ first U.S. Virtual Account for customers without a U.S. address, Filipinos working with international clients can receive payments more efficiently while keeping their banking relationships within the Philippine financial system.

Taken together, the initiatives reflect the evolving role of digital banking—from simply providing online channels to building connected financial ecosystems that remove barriers to financial participation.

The award also comes as the Philippines strengthens its position as one of Asia’s fastest-growing digital finance markets. While the industry’s initial focus was bringing more Filipinos into the formal banking system, the next phase is expected to center on helping customers participate more actively in the digital economy through digital payments, credit, investments, cross-border banking, and wealth creation.

RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer Lito Villanueva said the bank’s digital transformation has always been guided by a long-term vision of enabling greater financial participation.

“When we began our digital transformation years ago, we weren’t simply building better banking applications. We were building a banking ecosystem that grows with people’s ambitions. As economies become more connected, our responsibility as a bank is to help Filipinos participate confidently, not only within the Philippines, but anywhere opportunities exist.”

For RCBC, seven consecutive Euromoney awards underscore the importance of sustained innovation—not simply through new technologies, but by developing digital solutions that make banking more accessible, inclusive, and relevant to customers’ everyday lives.
