RCBC at Money 2020 Asia Conference

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) executive vice president and chief innovations and inclusion officer, Lito Villanueva, celebrated key milestones of the Philippine fintech industry at the prestigious “Money 20/20 Asia Conference: Now + Next,” held in Bangkok, Thailand. This event gathered prominent figures from the fintech industry across the region.

Villanueva, also the founding chairman of Fintech Alliance.PH, shared significant milestones in the journey of the Philippines, its start-ups, and financial institutions in transitioning to digital operations and promoting financial inclusion and digital finance in the country.

The event provided a valuable platform for Filipino innovators like Villanueva to showcase the country’s digital finance advancements within the context of a developing nation. Villanueva highlighted several Philippine-based solutions, including RCBC Pulz, RCBC ATM Go, RCBC Boz, and RCBC Diskartech.

Villanueva participated in a panel discussion titled “Inclusive Digital Financial Infrastructure: Unlocking the Grassroots Community,” where he emphasized RCBC ATM Go, the country’s first and largest bank-agnostic, grassroots-oriented handheld ATM network.

“Financial inclusion is built on socially-sensitive digital services and products that center on customers and their evolving needs. This approach allows us to stay ahead of market dynamics by developing user-friendly, hyper-personalized, and targeted digital solutions that focus on simplicity, affordability, and accessibility. Ultimately, in scaling inclusive digital finance, we advocate for sustained technology that is responsive, universal, secure, and transparent (TRUST),” Villanueva stated.

Villanueva was also invited to a closed-door roundtable discussion with other regional pioneers and visionaries. He also participated in an interview with technology solutions provider FIS, offering advice to neighboring countries on accelerating their financial inclusion efforts while ensuring inclusivity.

The digital finance visionary said, “Know your blind spots. Much data is overlooked because we fail to consider underserved and unbanked communities. There are numerous needs and opportunities yet to be tapped.”

Villanueva continues to be one of the most sought-after fintech thought leaders globally.
