Are you a senior high school student with a business idea that you think can make it big?
RCBC DiskarTech is giving a chance to put that big business idea into action as it launches the DiskarTechPreneur Bootcamp and Competition. RCBC DiskarTech is the Philippines’ first and only multi-lingual inclusion mobile app in Taglish and Cebuano languages.
DiskarTechPreneur is a youth-oriented business case webinar and competition to encourage senior high school students to develop grit and resilience towards financial literacy. At stake is the grand price of P50,000 and smartphones.
Contestants will likewise receive initial capital for their winning business or product idea.
Students enrolled in public or private senior high schools located in Metro Manila or in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (CALABARZON Region) are eligible to join. Interested students must form a team composed of five senior high school student members from Grades 11 and 12, and one coach/adviser. Each school can field a maximum of three teams in the competition. At least a team member should have a fully verified DiskarTech account.
Teams must submit a business case/proposal explaining the “big idea” and its target customers, business viability, the social media marketing strategy for their proposed business, and their planned business strategy. The business case should be set up as an online business.
The Top 20 teams (10 each from Metro Manila and Region IVA – CALABARZON) will join the competition’s Bootcamp Round, where they will receive seed money from RCBC DiskarTech as initial capital to jumpstart their business.
The selected teams will attend a one-day webinar with industry leaders and successful entrepreneurs. RCBC DiskarTech managers will mentor the teams.
After the Bootcamp, the teams will join the RCBC DiskarTech Virtual Bazaar, where the teams will be given one month to execute their business plans via online live selling.
The DiskarTechPreneur Bootcamp and Competition grand winner will receive P50,000 and smartphones for each member of the team. The 2nd placer will receive P15,000, and the 3rd placer will get P10,000.
Deadline for submission of entries is on December 31, 2022.
The competition is part of DiskarTech’s financial education program called Madiskarteng Pilipino, which pushes for the values and importance of financial literacy among young Filipinos, and how, with the aid of technology, this can give them “asenso at ginhawa” in the future.
According to RCBC executive vice president and chief innovation and inclusion officer Lito Villanueva, the Madiskarteng Pilipino program hopes to create an inclusive financial ecosystem in the Philippines.
As part of the program, RCBC DiskarTech partnered with the Department of Education earlier this year to include a curriculum-based digital finance study program for senior high school students nationwide.
